Camp Counselors

Location: Haliburton Hockey Haven Sports Camp, Haliburton, ON

Contract: Mid June – early September (approximately)

At Haliburton Hockey Haven Sports Camp we are dedicated to enriching the lives of young athletes through sport, education and leadership.   Our organization has been doing this since 1964, and have been at our current camp facility for six summers now and are in need of some great people to assist us in our endeavor!  This job is a contract position but we are hoping that full-time employment will be the end result with our new facility.  If you are the type of person that doesn’t mind lending a hand in any capacity to assist Haliburton Hockey Haven flourish now and into the future than we would love to hear from you!

We are looking for cabin counselors for summer 2024! A cabin counselor will be responsible for  supervising campers and responding to incidents, such as behavioral problems or accidents, report events and maintain records relating to activities. You should be positive, proactive, and caring while focusing on giving campers a fun, safe camp experience. We are looking for a person who loves the outdoors and community setting of Haliburton Hockey Haven 

Camp Counselor Responsibilities:

  • Leading and supporting campers as they participate in camp activities.
  • Supervising campers to ensure compliance with camp rules and prevent accidents.
  • Cleaning, maintaining and ensuring proper use of camp facilities and equipment.
  • Reporting and recording details of incidents, such as accidents or rule violations, to the appropriate camp staff.
  • Reacting to and implementing  all emergency procedures and enforcing camp rules.
  • Provide extra support at all camp activities and sports
  • Provide supervision overnight in camper cabins
  •  Creates a comfortable, respectful and fun cabin community

Qualifications 

  • Must be in their 17th year of age or older 
  • Must provide a vulnerable sector check
  • First aid and CPR training will be provided at staff training but prior training an asset 
  • Bronze cross/ NLS is an asset
