Haliburton, ON — June 17, 2025

Haliburton Hockey Haven is thrilled to welcome two standout junior hockey players to camp this summer: Chase Lefebvre and Jonathan Melee, both known for their exceptional play in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The highly anticipated visits will bring a new level of energy and mentorship to the program.

Chase Lefebvre, a 6’3” center from Kapuskasing, Ontario, will join campers during Week 1 (June 29 – July 5). Lefebvre recently played with the Haliburton County Huskies in the OJHL, following time with the Peterborough Petes and Brampton Steelheads in the OHL. Known for his size, hockey IQ, and offensive production, Lefebvre put up 63 points in just 146 games in his OHL career. He’ll be on the ice helping campers elevate their game, offering a glimpse into what it takes to compete at the next level.

“Chase brings that perfect combination of skill and presence,” said one of Hockey Havens co-hockey directors Connor Graham. “He’ll have an immediate impact on the campers — both as a player and a mentor.”

Joining the following week is Jonathan Melee, who will be at camp during Week 2 (July 5 – 12). Melee, a native of Rockland, Ontario, served as captain of the Peterborough Petes and recently committed to Sacred Heart University for the 2025–26 NCAA season. During his time in the OHL, Melee played in 190 games and recorded over 100 points, helping lead the Petes to an OHL Championship and a deep Memorial Cup run in 2023.

“Jonathan is a natural leader,” said Quinn Binnie, co-hockey director at Hockey Haven. “Having someone like him on the ice — someone who’s played at the highest level of junior hockey — is an incredible opportunity for our kids to learn what leadership and hard work really look like.”

Both players will participate in daily on-ice sessions, lead small group drills, and engage with campers throughout their stay. The presence of Lefebvre and Melee marks a major highlight in the camp’s summer schedule, and their experiences will no doubt leave a lasting impression on everyone involved.

For young hockey players aspiring to take their game to the next level, few opportunities compare to learning firsthand from those who’ve already made the journey.
